Tamworth Miniature Trains, Botanical Gardens

The Tamworth Miniature Trains features two 600 metre dual-gauge (5 inch and 7ΒΌ inch) tracks in concentric circuits with a four platform station and the ticket office, a 10-metre tunnel, fully serviced steaming bays, a loading traverser, and rolling stock storage. An additional 400-metre Oxley loop features an 18-metre Bailey bridge, and a second 10-metre tunnel.

A secure workshop, loco store, signal box, and Club rooms augment the miniature railway and provide facilities for Club meetings, loco and equipment storage, and workshop equipment and maintenance facilities.

The Picnic Pavilion provides undercover and outdoor seating and tables and is complete with a barbecue to meet the culinary needs of both our younger and older visitors alike.

Tamworth’s Miniature Railway was the first oval-shaped 280-metre track completed for operation in April 2005. The tunnels were built from former Fielder's metal grain silos which had been located in Sydney and then in Tamworth.

The Oxley Loop boasts spectacular views across East Tamworth and out to the airport some ten kilometres away and features an 18 metre World War II vintage Bailey Bridge.

Situated in the scenic hills of East Tamworth, in Victoria Park, adjacent to the Tamworth Regional Botanical Gardens at the top end of Piper Street.
